I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I love these books by Sarah Makela. She is introducing to new genres I probably would not have looked at before, although I don't know why - I love thinking about magic. This book has magic and werewolves and regular humans too! I was sorry to see it end I want to know more about what happens to Ethan and Miami, Jessa, and Nolan. I need the next book!!!!! Mia is a witch with underdeveloped powers. She's also hiding those powers from her family and community. She is asked to make a healing potion by a strange man who turns out to be a werewolf and her potion unknowingly contains wolfsbane which is poison to werewolves. The bad werewolf wants her to make more while another werewolf threatens her into making a cure for the wolfsbane poison! All of this in the middle of a budding love story. What fun!

The Witch Who Cried Wolf is book one in the Cry Wolf series by Sarah Mäkelä. This story has witch’s and werewolves’s things I enjoy reading about, but it needed to be longer to develop more of the world and characters. It’s a descent start to the series.

Mia our witch. At times I liked her and at others I got frustrated with her. She lets fear stop her from being the best she can be. I’m not sure if I ever felt her get stronger in this story. I was also confused with her lack of knowledge of the supernatural world and her witchcraft. It mentioned she read her grandmas grimoire, so why the lack of knowledge? How long did she have these powers? When did they start showing? So you can see it was hard to really connect to Mia or figure out what was going on without asking myself questions throughout this book.

Ethan our solder guy and long time crush of Mia’s. I wanted more of his story. We don’t get a background story on him. We do get a mention that his parents died in a car accident, but not when this happened. Their is also a promise Ethan made to Mia’s brother, but not what it was or why. Last we are left wondering what happens next for him now that he is a werewolf.

Mia’s mentor Jessa the own of a magic shop, we are left with her in the hospital. Also Mia’s brother it feels like something is going on with him. Not sure. I’m curious to know what's up with him.

As you can see many questions/things are left un-answered which I hope get answered as the series progresses. Lots of things need to be flushed out more. The one thing I did like was the POV mixed narrative. It was always clear who you where reading about. It was also nice to finally see Mia and Ethan hook up. The sex was mediocre and we only get one sex scene at the end. I had trouble connected to this book and fully enjoying the story with all the question's and lack of world development.

The Witch Who Cried Wolf is an ok start to the Cry Wolf series. Many things need to be flushed out and hopeful the author will take care of this as the series moves on.
Arghhh ... cliffhanger!

This is a SLOW burn and just when things are getting good, it ends on a cliffhanger. Although a slow burn, it did feel rushed at times as if there was missing parts but still an ok read.

Magic and werewolves, it is written from a dual pov and is a friends to lovers trope. Ethan is the best friend of Mia's brother, home from deployment. They both have secret crushes on each other for a long time but not doing anything about it. Ethan is a normal human until he is thrown into Mia's "world" of magic and werewolves. Can't say more than that without spoiling it for any future readers.

Again, be warned, this ends on a cliffhanger.
This felt like I was rushed thru a story because there was no time. I finished this book in an hour and felt like it was incomplete. She is a witch that has a crush on her brother's bff. They don't talk often, and that makes their crush just that, something simple and short that happens every time they meet. Imagine my surprise when suddenly they are in love. No middle, no dating, or spending quality time. I assume the author just wants us to believe that they are mates and they don't need those things a long as they are having sex.
The story is super rushed and is very simple. She makes a potion for a werewolf and doesn't know it, so she gives him wolfsbane. The werewolves end up getting mad at her and tell her to make more potions and turn Ethan into one of them. He doesn't investigate, he doesn't suffer, he just turns werewolf in seconds and worries slightly about being violent. Nothing else. Since both main characters don't know very much about werewolves it would make sense for them to research, but the book goes nowhere. There is no romance, no drama, no plot. Th only thing we find out is that there is a traitor in the pack of werewolves, and he is the one that turned Ethan. Just that. They don't find him, she doesn't grow as a witch, Ethan doesn't even turn into a werewolf.
Overall it's a disappointing book that I believe was curt short to Have other books as sequels.
