All too often, it starts with a missing kid.
It has been a year since Jed Horn and Dan Weatherby confronted Professor Ashton and destroyed his homunculus. They've been busy in the meantime, roving the Intermountain West, fighting monsters and and the demonic, protecting people as best they can from the powers of the Otherworld and the Abyss.
They are between jobs in Washington State when they catch wind of a missing kid in the mountains. There is enough weird about the situation that it sounds like their kind of work, so they volunteer to help out.
As the hunt for the missing child progresses, it turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse, as they are led deeper and deeper into a dark place in the mountains where our reality begins to give way to the Otherworld. It will be a fight to get out themselves, much less to bring the child out. But that's why they do what they do...

Love this series
Fantastic read! A short story of Jed and Dan set in an adventurous tale with creepy twists along the way. Love the Jed Horn series, excited for the next book!
Peter Nealen and Jed Horn are great!
Great stuff. I've always been intregued by the Missing 411 series, and this book takes a quick peek into the possibilities.
Well written as usual, keep it coming.
I'm a big fan of the Jed Horn series so far, but this one is incredibly short (around 100 pages). Still Nealen always writes a good story. I feel like he could have expanded this one a little bit more but it's a good one nonetheless. If he keeps writing them i'll keep reading them
Excellent short. captivating, adventure by Mr Nealen and his adventures of Jed. I've read all of Peter's stories and this is another example of his ability to entertain his readers even with a short read. Thank you Peter for another adventure, another excellent story.
I got started with Peter Nealen's work through the Jed Horn series, and liked them very much. Good writing (and editing). This short story was a nice addition to the series.
This short but gripping story comes from the mind of Peter Nealen and once again, he doesn't disappoint. I especially liked the "cat and mouse game" angle as it set the story apart from most urban fantasy stories out there. It almost reminded me of the movie Predator, except in the Pacific Northwest.
